While there are specialty options like teardrop or Aqua Bags, Muay Thai and traditional bags are typically the go-to choices for first-time buyers. Here's a breakdown of what you should consider.

That's why the key to a successful fitness regimen isn't solely about calorie counts or rapid results. It's about finding something you can truly stick with over the long haul.

But fear not! If you're seeking a dynamic, ever-changing workout that's as exhilarating as it is effective, look no further than cardio kickboxing. Offering a blend of excitement, variety, and the potential to torch up to 450 calories per hour, it's the ultimate fitness solution.

How It Works

Cardio kickboxing is typically conducted in a group fitness setting. Energizing music sets the tempo as an instructor guides participants through a sequence of movements aimed at boosting heart rate and engaging the arms, legs, and core muscles.

What Will You Need

While kickboxing can be done without any equipment, classes typically utilize heavy hanging or freestanding bags for added effectiveness and enjoyment. The bags and gloves are usually provided by the class. It is also optional to have hand wraps for added protection, and comfortable workout attire. It's also wise to bring along some water to stay hydrated during your session.

What a Kickboxing Class Looks Like

The class begins with attendees heading to their designated bags and kicking off with a brief warm-up led by the instructor, consisting of dynamic stretches. Once warmed up, the instructor cues the music and initiates the kickboxing session.

Participants follow the instructor's lead, executing various strikes such as punches, elbows, knees, and kicks on the bag, maintaining agility and rhythm. Novices need not worry, as the instructor provides step-by-step demonstrations prior to each move.

Throughout the class, expect to practice anywhere from 5 to 10 different strike combinations, interspersed with plyometric exercises like crunches, burpees, jump rope, or push-ups. The instructor offers encouragement and may prompt participants to cheer on their peers.

The climax of the session is the burnout phase, where participants unleash rapid-fire punches or kicks for one to two minutes. The class wraps up with a cooldown period, focusing on stretching to relax and elongate muscles.

Our award winning Baby warriors programme is designed specifically to aid children's development between the ages of 3 - 5 years old. These sessions include  Introduction to martial arts, improved cognitive skills, confidence, coordination, balance and general all round grounding. Our instructors are highly trained in how to bring the best out of your child and encourage learning through role playing and enhance social skills. 

Our Family classes are for everybody aged 10 years and above. We had noticed that it can be increasingly difficult to find positive enhancement activities, where one can learn, have fun and have the opportunity to share the experience with your children, thus making KMMA  family sessions very popular. These sessions enable you to train both your Body and Mind and enable you to leave with a 'feel good' factor.

Just announced KMMA one of NearYou leading Martial Art Clubs has won Best Leisure and Sports Business of the Year by the Pride of Tameside Business awards.

The award recognises the contribution KMMA has made in year to the local community of Tameside in Manchester, for children and adults.

Commitment and determination

KMMA opened their doors 18 years ago teaching kickboxing in Tameside primary schools and at various other locations across Oldham, and Manchester.

Building on the early success KMMA acquired their own premises, a dedicated martial art and fitness centre. This year the club acquired and refurbished an additional floor in the building.

Self Defence Centre

The club offers a range of Martial Arts, including MMA, freestyle style Kickboxing, and self defence. During 2019 the club ran a series of successful sell out self-defence seminars aimed at helping local communities in particular women and children become more street aware.

Expanded range of health & fitness activities

The new upgrade to the clubs premises with more space means KMMA can offer more fitness activities such a Zumba dance, yoga and mindfulness classes.

CONNOR PRIDDING HAD A GREAT OUTING, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING IT WAS HIS FIRST FIGHT BUT CAME UP SHORT AGAINST OPPONENT DAH LANGDEN BUT DISPLAYED SOME AWESOME COUNTER STRIKING AND WAS IN IT UNTIL THE VERY END.

A BIG SHOUT TO HEAD HONCHO KARL MCVETY FOR GETTING THESE BOYS FIGHT READY DRAWING ON OVER 30 YEARS MARTIAL ARTS EXPERIENCE OF BOTH TEACHING AND FIGHTING. SKILL, FITNESS, RESPECT AND DISCIPLINE HAS BEEN TAUGHT AND UTILISED.
